CTMC WILL ONCE AGAIN AWARD IMPACT GRANTS TO LOCAL NON-PROFITS

SAN MARCOS, TX – In the past two years, the Women’s Council of the Central Texas Medical Center Foundation has provided $37,000 of impact grants to area non-profits and community initiatives, and an additional $16,000 will be awarded this year. The third annual Women’s Council grant awards ceremony will take place on May 15 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the CTMC Healing Garden. At the event, five non-profit organizations that serve women and children in Hays County will be presented with grants from this year’s funding.

“We are pleased to provide these impact grants to local non-profits for the third year in a row,” said CTMC Foundation Executive Director Clay DeStefano. “We look forward to awarding grants to many more organizations benefitting local women and children for years to come.”

The organizations that benefitted from Women’s Council grants in 2011 and 2012 are as follows:

Additional funds provided free infant car seats to mothers who delivered at CTMC without the means to buy an appropriate car seat. Funds were also allocated for the CTMC Remembrance Garden and support services for anyone who experiences the loss of an infant or child. In addition, two new state-of-the-art breast pumps for CTMC’s growing breastfeeding and Mother Friendly Worksite programs were purchased last year through the Women’s Council funding.
The Women’s Council is a unique fundraising committee of the CTMC Foundation that utilizes member dues to fund its efforts rather than traditional events and activities. The Council was established in 2010 to help create sustaining funding for the CTMC Women’s Center and provide the annual impact grants to other non-profits serving women and children in Hays County. Now in its fourth year of operation, the Council has grown to 68 active members.
