CTMC’S GROWING ‘PINK’ EVENTS WILL INCLUDE EXPANDED MAMMOGRAM OPPORTUNITIES
SAN MARCOS, TX – In addition to Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) growing “pink” initiatives and partnerships, this year the hospital will raise breast cancer awareness by providing mammograms through new extended hours.
Starting in Oct., which is nationally recognized as breast cancer awareness month, CTMC will offer extended-hour mammograms on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. by appointment. Although the service will continue moving forward, special reduced pricing will be available for exams taking place on a Tuesday or Thursday evening during Oct. only.
“Because early detection is key for winning the fight against breast cancer, we want to provide a more convenient opportunity for women to get their yearly mammograms,” said CTMC Administrative Director of PR/Marketing Clay DeStefano. “It’s a privilege to be a part of this growing, dynamic effort that is truly making a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors right here in Hays County.”

Additionally, CTMC is once again partnering with Community Action to offer up to 100 free mammograms to area women who have no means to pay for one. For more information about the free mammograms, please call Community Action at (512) 392-1161 or e-mail Lydia Perez at lperez@communityaction.com.
In the past four years, CTMC’s Think Pink efforts have raised more than $70,000 in funds to serve and support individuals living with breast cancer.
This year, along with the annual Mayors’ proclamation, the CTMC lantern will once again glow pink all month long as a beacon of hope for individuals suffering from breast cancer and those who love them. In addition, several more activities will help raise funds for emergency aide to cancer patients in need who qualify for the assistance.

The Pink Style Pack includes five cards for $5. Each card is redeemable for one-time use at participating stores at Tanger Outlets for 25 percent off a single item at a single store.
Oct. 11 – Texas State Women’s Volleyball ‘Dig Pink’ Game
This Texas State’s women’s volleyball game features pink attire and a silent auction.
Oct. 11 – San Marcos Academy Pink Game
Pink jerseys and more appear during the game against Holy Cross of San Antonio. Tip off at 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 16 – Texas State CAMCO’s Annual Bra Night/Fashion Show
LBJ Ballroom, TX ST Student Center
More than 20 Texas State University student organizations will take part in a special bra-decorating contest to help raise awareness for breast cancer. At the fashion show, the decorated cancer bras will be modeled tastefully with jeans. The show will kick off with a reception at 6:00 p.m. that includes free food. About CTMC
The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960. The present facility was opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983.
